Second Rotation of Project HOPE Volunteers will Continue Work in Liberia

Hi I'm Melanie Mullinax. I work as a communications specialist for Project HOPE, an international health education and humanitarian assistance organization. I spend my days writing about the lifesaving programs Project HOPE conducts in more than 36 countries around the world. For the next two weeks, I will be leaving behind the comforts of my Millwood, Va. office, my three children and husband that I adore and traveling with medical volunteers as they conduct a two week mission in West Africa to train health care professionals and treat patients.

My colleague and friend, Marisol Euceda just returned from a one month mission in Ghana and Liberia working alongside our volunteers, taking photographs, recording videos. telling the stories and writing daily blogs about the lifesaving work being conducted by our volunteers. I will continue Marisol's work with 14 new medical volunteers who will return to Liberia's JFK Hospital in Monrovia, Liberia early next week. This second rotation of volunteers will build upon the training provided by our first group of volunteers.

I will do my best to capture their important work and the volunteer experience in this blog.

Check back for regular updates and send me comments.
